Stokewood Leisure Centre has three accessible car parking spaces situated at the front of the Centre.
The main front entrance can be accessed by wheelchairs via a ramp. The rear entrance to the Centre is via a flat entrance with power assisted door.
Accessible Toilets and Changing Rooms
The Centre has accessible toilets in the main foyer. An accessible changing rooms with toilet is also available adjacent to the swimming pool and gym area.
Accessible toilets are fitted with an audible emergency alarm for use in the event of assistance being required.
Many of the doors within the centre are held in the open position by magnets. This enables people to move easily through many of the areas. In the event of the fire alarm being activated, these doors will be automatically released and return to the closed position until such time as the alarm is de-activated, when the doors may then be pushed back into the open position.
Hearing and Visual Assistance
The Centre has a hearing loop and the main desk has been lowered to be more accessible.
Guide & Assistance Dogs
Guide and Assistance Dogs are permitted into all areas of the Stokewood Leisure Centre. They are to be kept on a lead at all times and under control. Water is provided on request.
The Stokewood Leisure Centre has a hoist available for swimming activities.
In addition to the activities available at the Stokewood Leisure Centre, we also work closely with the Bournemouth Disabled Swimmers Club who organise dedicated swimming sessions for people with disabilities .
